Gu Dexin, born in 1962 and now living and working in Beijing, is one of the most internationally renowned installation artists in contemporary China. As an important member of the early Chinese conceptualist art groups “New Scale Group” and “Tactile Art Group”, he was also one of the Chinese artists participating in the Earth Magicians, the first international exhibition of contemporary West embracing East. His early works, including paintings, watercolors and embroideries, embodied in a very pure way the experimental attitude towards material properties and their relationships.
His work has been exhibited in several famous international galleries, including the Guggenheim.
