Adam Pendleton was born in Richmond, USA, in 1984. Using historical and aesthetic content from textual and visual culture, he critically examines the resonance of ideas from diverse cultural perspectives, including social resistance movements and Dada, minimalism, and conceptualism. He creates paintings, drawings, moving image works, sculptures and installations that alter established narratives about the past, break down rigid historical categories and open up new possibilities and directions for the future.
Pendleton’s work is included in important collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Tate Modern in London.
